Summer events are back – and we know the perfect place to kick off your social calendar.

The Murray Bridge SpryCrete Christmas Cup is on this Sunday, 5 December 2021 – and there’s never been a better time than now, to get out and enjoy time with friends in country South Australia.

The spectacular Bridges Event Centre venue, based at the Murray Bridge Racing Club, is the largest of its type in regional SA. At less than a one-hour drive from Adelaide, it offers the perfect space for a big crowd to dress up, get together and celebrate. So if you’re looking for an excuse to spend time with those friends you haven’t seen much this year, then this is it!

The new racing club venue is just over two years old, and the event organisers believe that the 2021 event is going to be its best yet, with more entertainment, more menu options, more event spaces and better servicing than before.

Imagine being dressed up, drink in hand and standing on the huge open lawns overlooking a rural backdrop – it seems like the perfect view for your first Sunday of summer.

Even better, is that the event is great for all ages. If you have the little ones with you, they can soak up the fun and activities of the much-loved Stable Stars – including FREE face painting, Kelly Sports and other activities. This really is one of the best days for families to get out of Adelaide and enjoy country hospitality on the expansive open lawns of a regional racing club (without spending half a day in the car).

Otherwise, if you want to leave the kids at home, you can treat yourself, and your friends, colleagues or family with a package deal. The two most popular are the Legends Package ($50pp, or $30pp for MBRC Members) which includes admission, reserved seating and a food/drinks voucher; or the premium Macquarie Package ($120pp or $100pp for MBRC Members) which includes reserved seats, a two-course meal and four-hour drinks package.

Or if you want to simply soak up the fun and crowd atmosphere on the lawns, then General Admission tickets ($22pp) are available for people who walk in on the day.

What people love about this venue is the beautiful design of the modern space, mixed with the country atmosphere and delicious food and beverage menu. Whether you’re soaking up luxury in the upstairs corporate lounge, or enjoying the shoes-off fun on the lush lawns, surrounded by the punters, it really is the perfect place for a day out in the sun.

If you do take out a corporate package, you’ll love the food being served up. These guys are known for their hearty race-day meals, and exceptional local wine list. Otherwise for the general admission crew, you’ll have a range of regular food and drink choices to fill you up throughout the day.

Get your crew together and book your tickets now.

If you’re keen to make a day, night or weekend of it, why not spend a few nights in Murray Bridge, or another nearby town like Mannum, Wellington or Tailem Bend? There are more options than ever for accommodation now – including the new Bridgeport Hotel, waterfront luxury holiday houses with River Shack RentalsAdelaide Road Motor Lodge, room with a view at the Mannum Motel, or one of the motels/accommodation options at Tailem Bend.

If you have some time up your sleeve, and want to make the most of your time in the region, why not explore some of our best group experiences on offer.

A short drive from Murray Bridge will take you to places like The Bend Motorsport Park, where you can simply drop in for a meal in the restaurant and check out the world-class race track; or take it up a notch and sign yourself up for an on-track experience (or the popular family fun of karting!). Did you know that the karts at The Bend are the fastest in South Australia?

Otherwise, if you’re after a slower experience, head to or from the race track via the Langhorne Creek Wine Region – it’s less than 20 minutes from Bridges Event Centre. This gorgeous wine region might be small in scale, but is huge in character, and provides some of the most fun and unique wine experiences in SA. Why not head to Bremerton Wines where you can try a premium tasting flight of paired food or wine, or test out their popular new Willson Small Batch Gin amongst the newly renovated cellar door.

If you have extra time, swing past the architecturally brilliant Kimbolton Wines cellar door, where you’ll be blown away by the incredible building design made of shipping containers, created into a modern food and wine space. It’s one of the most unique cellar doors in SA – with some of the best wine to match.

So start with your race day tickets for this Sunday, 5 December, and then plan the rest of your weekend to make the most of escaping the city!
