Is there anything better than a day out on the lawns of South Australia’s spectacular wineries? If you’re a SA-local, then you’ll know these days well (and like us, can probably quite easily recall your last cellar door sojourn). Surrounded by vineyards, laughing with friends, failing at some giant wooden game and - most importantly - sampling some of the best food, wine and gin on the planet.

We’re spoilt with these gorgeous venues and globally-leading wines on our doorstep here in SA… but if you’re looking for somewhere new, somewhere you can really relax into a long and lazy day on the lawn, then you need to add Bremerton Wines to your ‘must-visit’ list for 2021.

In case you’ve been living under a rock, you might not have heard that Bremerton’s cellar door at Langhorne Creek (only 45 minutes from the Adelaide tollgate) has undergone a phenomenal upgrade. It’s not just the sprawling lawns, extended tasting patio, modern wine bar and beautifully restored buildings you’ll notice when you arrive, but also its growing menu of food, wine and GIN to taste!

Bremerton’s owners and winemakers - sisters Lucy and Rebecca Willson – not only make a great pair themselves, but they just know how to bring new things together.

Just as Bremerton has beautifully complemented its historic two-storey 1866 stone barn with a new expansive and contemporary single-level tasting space, they have also gently introduced the Willson Small Batch gin to the tasting (and purchasing) menu alongside their wines.

The three gins – Original, Samphire and Sage and Citrus Burst – provide the perfect complement to the 20+ varieties and special release wines on the menu at any one time.

So while we can’t take too many ‘flights’ around the world right now, there’s never been a better time to sit down and take a flight at Langhorne Creek.

Bremerton has all tastes covered in its newly expanded cellar door – and even offers up craft beer from locally produced Meechi Brewing Co.

Depending on your tastes and favourite flavours, there are three wine flights and one gin flight to choose from. If you’re a wine lover, then the Alternate or Premium wine flights might be for you. However, if you’re after some of the best-selling favourites (and haven’t tasted much from Bremerton before) then start with the Classic wine flight and work your way up from there!

Gin lovers (and those wishing to try something new) can road-test the new gin flight – sampling the Original, Samphire and Sage and Citrus Burst with local produce and fresh flavours. The hardest part will be choosing your favourite.

Or – for those of you (like us) who love to taste it all – simply work your way down the cellar door tasting list, and mix it up with something from the regionally-inspired menu.

Honestly, they had us at Baked Brie’. But when you start looking through the menu of grazing boards, pizzas and desserts, you’ll once again be glad you came to visit.

Over a long day on the lawn, you could quite easily devour a Mediterranean grazer with your Classic Wine Flight (and even follow it up with their famous dessert pizza and Premium Wine Flight). But speaking on pizza, it’s hard to go past the incredible flavour combos from Bremerton, with the Chilli Jam and Brie or Pancetta and Gorgy the perfect complement to a glass (or two) of gin over lunch.

Seriously though, with 7 different grazing boards, 10 gourmet pizzas and 6 dessert options – the menu is deliciously perfect.

[Oh – and did we mention the new cellar door and menu is now an even BETTER place for families to visit?]

The big open lawns – especially the large space stretching out at the back of the winery - is the perfect place to bring kids. So, while parents get to indulge their palates and take some much-deserved time out, the kids can soak up the sun, space and games without worry.

The Bremerton team has taken full-advantage of their space, with the inside-to-outside design of the cellar door space creating a great environment for an all-ages day out.

The new area is neatly fenced off away from traffic, and parents have a great vantage point from wherever they’re seated outside (and even from the inside tasting bar). Plus, the growing number of wooden games and sports equipment will keep the kids busy for a few hours (but just be warned, if pester power wins, the giant freckles on the regional produce table might end up in your bag at the end of the day).

So next time you’re thinking of a weekend escape with family, friends, or even just a couples’ getaway – add Bremerton to your list and make it your long-lunch stop in Langhorne Creek.

If you’re looking for a longer tour through the ‘Creek, check out the Juggle House Experiences packages. Your tour host Kel (who will literally juggle on command – except when she’s driving of course), will take you on a tour of the best bits of Langhorne Creek – including Bremerton Wines. Kel is an expert on all things SA and the Murray River, so for those looking for something super-unique, or customised to their tastes – Juggle House is a great place to start!

It’s less than an hour from the Adelaide tollgate, and the team always love to see new and returning faces (and no matter who you are, there’s always something new to try!).

If you’re heading to Bremerton, why not make a weekend (or a week) of it and try some of our region’s other incredible experiences, such as:
