A good stopover on your way from New South Wales to Adelaide, in the settlement of Peake, just off the Mallee Highway. It’s not paradise. However, it is a safe, quiet spot for the rest two hours out of Adelaide. There is a short historical walk through the township of Peake with interpretive signage. There are no shops here. The dirt roads are safe for walking and cycling, and there is some Mallee scrub to explore. The Bend motorsports park half-hour a drive away. The Boarder 4×4 track starts at Lameroo, an hour’s drive away. Again, there are no facilities. Campers will need to be self-contained and leave no trace. Dogs are welcome, but please keep them contained.
